Excited about AC® Muchmore Wheat

We recently joined FP Genetics this year and one of the reasons we decided to do that was because we really wanted to grow AC® Muchmore Wheat and AC® Transcend Durum.

Transcend is a topic for another day.  For now I want to highlight why we we believe Muchmore will be a great variety for southern Alberta.

AC Muchmore seeded May 13th.
Muchmore is one of the highest yielding spring wheats (according to the registration trial data), yielding right up there with Stettler, CDC Go and the high yielding varietal blends like Shaw. What really caught my eye, though, was the fact that it has a VG rating for Lodging and a height of only 74 cm.  In fact, Muchmore is the shortest of the all the spring wheat varieties listed in the registration trials data for 2012.

FP says that Muchmore has resistance to rusts and bunt and improved fusarium resistance.  So my thoughts are that with all of these attributes this variety will do very well in southern Alberta under irrigation.

Of course there are still alot of days between now and harvest, and a crop is not made until it is in the bin, but we are pretty hopeful here that we will have some AC Muchmore for sale come Fall 2013 through Spring 2014.  Keep AC Muchmore in mind for spring seeding 2014.
